Millions of children finally back to school today as pics show inside new Covid-secure classrooms

Millions of children across England have started returning to schools today, many for the first time in six months.

Pupils are finally getting back to the classrooms with strict coronavirus rules in place to keep young people safe.

Four in ten schools in England will welcome back pupils for the autumn term today, with the rest reopening later this week.

Some 97 per cent of schools are ready to reopen fully in the next few days.

Boris today hailed the efforts of teachers getting kids back in.

He said: "As everybody knows this is the first day back for all of us but across the country hundreds and thousands, millions of pupils are going back to school thanks to the huge efforts of their teachers, their parents have made over the last few days and weeks."
